WH Syrah, 2022

The inspiration for our Whitman Hill Syrah is a classic Northern Rhône, characteristically rich and elegant and always in balance. The 2022 vintage starts with notes of smoky barrel, nutmeg-spiced blueberry crumble, and cinnamon sugar on the nose with aromas of cranberry and red currant in the background. The luscious palate pops with lush black plum, sweet oak, and seared Easter ham. On the mid palate, velvety and integrated tannins along with toasty warmth melt into a lengthy finish. With time in the mouth, the fruit acquires an opulent expression of orange marmalade that is enhanced by classic Syrah notes of balsamic reduction, dried flowers, and subtle smoke characterizing it as a full-bodied beauty.
